    The WBR Business Ed & IT Academy offers six pathways in business education and information technology. These pathways prepare students for careers in the fields of Information Technology, Hospitality, Tourism, Marketing, Customer Service, Entrepreneurship, and much more.

     

     Business Education

    Business Administration Pathway: The Business Administration Pathway prepares students for careers in careers in administration and management of business operations. In addition to core classes, students in the Business Administration pathway learn skills that are vital to office productivity, taking electives in business and computer applications, customer service, and banking and finance. An internship at one of two credit unions operated inside WBR high schools is offered as part of this pathway. Students graduating with a Jump Start TOPS Tech Career Diploma also exit with Microsoft Office Specialist certifications, certification in Customer Service via the National Retail Federation, and First Responder certification. Students graduating with a TOPS University high school diploma may also exit with dual enrollment college credit or Advanced Placement college credit when completing eligible courses with qualifying scores.

    Retail Management Pathway: The Retail Management Pathway prepares students for careers in retail sales, retail sales management, marketing, customer service, and fashion or retail merchandising. In addition to core classes, students in the Retail Management Pathway take electives in business and computer applications, customer service, entrepreneurship, advertising and sales promotion, finance, and may also qualify for an internship at one of two credit unions operated inside WBR high schools, if desired. Students graduating with a Jump Start TOPS Tech Career Diploma also exit with Microsoft Office Specialist certifications, certification in Customer Service via the National Retail Federation, and First Responder certification. Students graduating with a TOPS University high school diploma may also exit with dual enrollment college credit or Advanced Placement college credit when completing eligible courses with qualifying scores.

    Hospitality & Lodging Management Pathway: The Hospitality & Lodging Management Pathway prepares students for careers in general operations management for the hotel and restaurant industries, events planning and events management and marketing. In addition to core classes, students in the Hospitality & Lodging Management Pathway take electives in business and computer applications, customer service, and entrepreneurship, as well as principles of business, and sports entertainment & events management. Students graduating with a Jump Start TOPS Tech Career Diploma also exit with Microsoft Office Specialist certifications, certification in Customer Service via the National Retail Federation, and First Responder certification. Additionally, students of this pathway may choose to pursue the credential of Certified Hospitality & Tourism Manager. Students graduating with a TOPS University high school diploma may also exit with dual enrollment college credit or Advanced Placement college credit when completing eligible courses with qualifying scores.

    Intro to Culinary Occupations Pathway: The Intro to Culinary Occupations Pathway prepares students to begin their careers in the culinary industry, as restaurant or market managers, chefs, cooks, or nutritionists and dieticians. In addition to core classes, students in the Intro to Culinary Occupations Pathway take electives in business and computer applications, customer service, and entrepreneurship, as well as principles of business, principles of hospitality, and foods and nutrition. Students graduating with a Jump Start TOPS Tech Career Diploma also exit with Microsoft Office Specialist certifications, certification in Customer Service via the National Retail Federation, and ServSafe certification by the National Restaurant Association. Students graduating with a TOPS University high school diploma may also exit with dual enrollment college credit or Advanced Placement college credit when completing eligible courses with qualifying scores.

    Digital Media & Entertainment Technology Pathway: The Digital Media & Entertainment Technology Pathway prepares students for careers in careers as digital marketing Specialists, marketing managers, multimedia artists and animators, graphic designers, and film and video editors. In addition to core classes, students in the pathway take electives in business and computer applications, art, entrepreneurship, digital media, entertainment technology, and game development. Students graduating with a Jump Start TOPS Tech Career Diploma also exit with Microsoft Office Specialist certifications and Adobe Certified Associate certification. Students graduating with a TOPS University high school diploma may also exit with dual enrollment college credit or Advanced Placement college credit when completing eligible courses with qualifying scores. This pathway is an excellent fit for students pursuing multi-year credits in band, art, or choir.

    Information Technology: The Information Technology pathway prepares students for careers as IT support personnel, computer installation and repair technicians, database and software developers, and networking technicians. In addition to core classes, students in the pathway take electives in business computer applications, computer technology literacy, computer electronics, principles of business, customer service, and entrepreneurship.  Students graduating with a TOPS University high school diploma may also exit with dual enrollment college credit or Advanced Placement college credit when completing AP Computer Science Principles with a qualifying score.
