I received my teaching degree from LSU and have taught English at the high school and collegiate level. For twenty-three years, I lived in Valdosta, Georgia and am very excited to be back home for my third year in West Baton Rouge Parish. This is my third year at PAMS, and I’m looking forward to adding the class of English I to my day. Besides a love for English literature and writing, I have a deep appreciation for the theatre. I have one son who is about to begin his third year of college.

My name is Ms. Collins. I’ve lived in Port Allen almost my whole life. I consider Port Allen my home and I’m excited to get work at the same school I attended in middle school. I attended SLU for undergrad and LSU & LSU-S for graduate school. I have one dog, she’s a spoiled brat but she’s my baby! I happy to be included in the PAMS community and look forward to getting to know everyone.

I am excited to be the PAMS 7th Grade ELA teacher. The 2021-2022 school year is my 5th as part of the PAMily and my 8th in education. In my time as a teacher, I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Social Studies and ELA.

My journey to becoming a teacher was not the typical one! I received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from LSU in 2008. I attended the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, receiving a Juris Doctorate in 2011. However in 2014, I decided to follow my true calling and began teaching. I earned my Louisiana Teaching Certification through Louisiana College in 2016. I am certified in secondary (6-12) ELA and Social Studies.

My goal as a teacher is to help my students become expressive thinkers and lifelong learners, who are socially responsible, active citizens. I hope to instill in my students a love of reading and appreciation for the power of the well-written word.
