Kim Cox

Coach Cox was born in Jackson, MS, and raised in Lake, MS. She graduated from Lake High School in 2003. While at Lake High School, she played softball and basketball and won numerous accolades including winning the basketball state championship in 2000-2001. After high school, she attended East Central Community College in Decatur, MS on a basketball scholarship, where they won region and state championships and was ranked #7 in the nation in 2003-2004. After graduating from ECCC in 2005, Coach Cox attended the University of Tennessee at Martin in Martin, TN on a basketball scholarship. In 2008, she graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration. She completed her Master's of Education in Secondary Education with a concentration in social studies. Prior to starting her teaching career at Port Allen High, she served as the assistant girls basketball coach at Lake High School from 2011-2013 and as a student mentor to a very special young man (Jadorrian Pace), a special education paraprofessional at Brusly Elementary (2013-2014), and she was a student teacher at Brusly High School (Fall 2014). Family is extremely important to her; most of her free time is spent hanging with them. Coach Cox is blessed to have two great parents (Margaret and Grover Cox Jr.), she is the youngest of 5 children, and has have 1 niece and 6 nephews.
