We are proud to announce that Jaclyn Bourque and Michael Palermo, our dedicated Assistant Principals at Brusly Middle School, have both been honored with the Patriotic Employer Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense through the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency committed to promoting awareness of the critical role that Guard and Reserve personnel play in national security.
The Patriotic Employer Award recognizes individual supervisors who demonstrate outstanding support for their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve, signifying their willingness to share their employees with the Department of Defense in defense of our nation.
Jaclyn and Michael were nominated for this prestigious award by Second Lieutenant Daniel Turnbull, an Army National Guard commissioned officer and aspiring attorney who taught sixth grade Social Studies at Brusly Middle School for two years. During his time at the school, he was deeply impressed by their leadership and support. Lieutenant Turnbull has since been accepted into Baylor University School of Law in Waco, Texas, and is projected to graduate in May of 2026. Additionally, he has been accepted into the Army JAG Corps to serve as a legal officer.
Though Lieutenant Turnbull was unable to attend the award presentation, he shared the following message:
"I am honored to have nominated Brusly Middle School for this Patriot Award in recognition of their exceptional support for National Guard and Reserve service members. The leaders and faculty consistently go above and beyond, ensuring service members can fulfill their military obligations while excelling in their professional roles. Their dedication to both community and country is truly commendable."
We are equally honored and proud of Lieutenant Turnbull for representing our school and making an extraordinary impact on not only our students but also our staff. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence have been felt throughout the school, and we are excited to see the remarkable future that lies ahead for him. As a former teacher who has shown excellence in every endeavor, Lieutenant Turnbull is undoubtedly destined to become an exceptional Army JAG, and we have no doubt that the nation will soon see what we have already witnessed firsthand.
This recognition of Jaclyn and Michael is a testament to the unwavering support and commitment they have shown to service members like Lieutenant Turnbull. Their leadership not only supports the mission of our school but also reflects a deep dedication to our country and its defenders.
Please join us in congratulating Jaclyn and Michael on this distinguished award. Their service, leadership, and continued dedication to both our school and the nation are truly deserving of this recognition.
