Give drugs the boot!

Thank you to the WBR School Board, Dr. Smith, and our community for supporting the installation of the turf field at Brusly High. The finished product is beautiful and will enhance the high school experience for our athletes, spirit groups, and band. -Hoff Schooler, BHS
I’m excited about what this new field turf means for our program and our community. It’s more than just a great playing surface, it opens the door for our youth and feeder programs to play here with us, building stronger connections and a true home-field atmosphere from the youngest athletes on up. - Antoine Washington, PAHS

Mixing primary colors to make new colors!

This past week, our little pandas have been learning all about primary colors. Learning about primary colors in early childhood is more than just recognizing red, blue, and yellow—it builds important early learning skills. As children explore colors, they develop language by describing what they see, strengthen cognitive skills through sorting and matching, and spark creativity by mixing new colors. These simple color lessons also lay the groundwork for early math, science, and visual discrimination skills, helping children make connections, express themselves, and understand the colorful world around them.

Pumpkin Patch

Pre-K had an amazing and fun-filled Friday! 🎉 We enjoyed Letter Bingo, earned extra recess after lunch, and even got to make our own bread after reading The Little Red Hen! What a wonderful way to end the week!

You should have received an email from the WBR School System with a link to a survey. If you have children enrolled in multiple schools, we kindly ask that you complete a separate survey for each school.

Report Cards

Last week, our Head Start friends explored a fun and meaningful theme — pets! 🐾 Through hands-on activities and discussions, children learned about the responsibilities of being a pet owner, the needs of different animals, and the importance of kindness and empathy toward all living things. It was a wonderful opportunity to build early science, language, and social-emotional skills while learning about our furry (and not-so-furry!) friends!

"We have been so excited about our changes on campus at Port Allen Elementary! A new roof alone is nice, but then adding renovations to our kitchen, cafeteria and gym gave our school a total refresh. It’s nice to have newly updated spaces that are used and appreciated by everyone at our school as well as our visitors." - Principal, Heather Day
