This week, Mrs. Hill’s class enjoyed reading the story “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” To bring the story to life, we made our very own porridge in the classroom! The students had so much fun making and enjoying this special treat while connecting it to the story we read together.
Our theme throughout this month in Library has been "What it means to grow through books." We've been exploring a variety of stories that highlight key lessons about perseverance, learning from mistakes, and maintaining a growth mindset to accomplish anything you set your mind to.
This week, we read "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. The story carries a wonderful message about self-expression, confidence, and overcoming the fear of making mistakes. It teaches students that everyone has creative potential, sometimes all it takes is making a simple mark and seeing where it leads.
After reading, our K–2nd grade students completed a hands-on activity where they started with just a single dot and transformed it into their own unique artwork to uncover the creative beauty within themselves. I've attached a few of my student's drawings so you can enjoy their fantastic work!
