Everyone is encouraged to participate in Red Ribbon Week as we display our fight against drugs and raise awareness of Breast Cancer and Down Syndrome!

Huge Thank You to Our Guest Speakers!
Earlier this week, our Port Allen High JAG students had the privilege of learning from two incredible professionals —
💼 Mr. Toby Willis, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, and
🏠 Mr. Brandon Brown, Real Estate Agent here in Port Allen!
Both speakers shared valuable insight on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career success, reminding our students that hard work, smart choices, and community connections can open endless opportunities.
We truly appreciate you both for taking the time to invest in our students’ futures and for giving them real-world knowledge they can carry beyond the classroom. 💪

Ice Simulation Activity
In this hands-on lab, students modeled and observed how melting land ice and melting sea ice affect sea-level rise differently. Using containers of water, ice cubes placed both on land (in a model representing glaciers) and in the ocean (representing sea ice), students compared water levels before and after the ice melted. Students discovered that melting land ice causes sea levels to rise, while melting sea ice does not significantly change sea levelbecause it is already floating in the water. The activity helped students visualize the effects of global warming on polar ice and sea-level rise, reinforcing the concept of energy transfer between Earth’s systems (atmosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere).
Through observations, data collection, and reflection questions, students connected the simulation to real-world climate change impacts and discussed ways human activity contributes to rising global temperatures and melting polar ice.

"We have been so excited about our changes on campus at Port Allen Elementary! A new roof alone is nice, but then adding renovations to our kitchen, cafeteria and gym gave our school a total refresh. It’s nice to have newly updated spaces that are used and appreciated by everyone at our school as well as our visitors." - Principal, Heather Day
