Ms. Stelly’s first grade students are measuring a string using centimeter 10 sticks and centimeter cubes 📏🧱. They are making a drawing to show how we can measure efficiently by using the 10 sticks first and then the cubes to find the leftover length 🎨✏️. This helps students measure accurately and understand how tools work together to make measuring easier and faster ⭐😊.

Finding the endpoint is the first step.
Making sure there are no gaps between the cubes
using centimeter 10 sticks and centimeter cubes
We can use tools to help us measure
Making sure our measuring tool is aligned with the endpoints
We compared our measurements with a partner’s measurement
We recorded our answers and had a discussion about what and how we measured using centimeter 10 sticks and cubes.

This month in our Capturing Kids’ Hearts program, we’re focusing on RESPECT 💛 — which comes in many forms:
🌱 respect for life
🏡 for property
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 for parents
👵👴 for elders
🌍 for nature
🤝 and for the beliefs and rights of others

Respect includes being courteous and polite 😊, as well as respecting yourself by avoiding self-criticism 💭➡️💙.

We can model respect for our children through how we speak to and treat them 🗣️❤️. Respect is not only an important character trait 🌟, but it can also be a source of real joy 😄! Respect reflects appreciation 🙏, helping us become more aware of others’ needs and feelings 💞.
