🌟 Hello Families! 🌟
This is Mrs. Thomas, your School Counselor, with some exciting updates! I’m here to support our students as they grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
Here’s how I help:
💬 Individual counseling
👥 Small group counseling
🏫 Classroom lessons on confidence, self-regulation, friendships, and positive behavior
I also work with families to provide resources when needs arise, such as school uniforms, supplies, and coats.
Our school uses Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH), a relationship-centered, character-based process that helps students feel connected and valued. I also teach CKH lessons to help students build relationship skills, trust, and positive behavior. Families receive a monthly CKH newsletter with our character trait of the month and tips for supporting these skills at home.
✨ Save the Date! ✨
I’m thrilled to announce our Parent Resource Night on March 12! Community partners will share services and supports for students and families. More details coming soon — we would love for you to join us!

Our 1st grade teachers are loving the new Gallopade resources! 📚✨
Thanks to the West Baton Rouge Foundation for Academic Excellence grant, our Gallopade Resources Hub is helping bring learning to life in the classroom. We’re so grateful for the support that makes opportunities like this possible! 💙🎉

Ms. Stelly’s first grade students are measuring a string using centimeter 10 sticks and centimeter cubes 📏🧱. They are making a drawing to show how we can measure efficiently by using the 10 sticks first and then the cubes to find the leftover length 🎨✏️. This helps students measure accurately and understand how tools work together to make measuring easier and faster ⭐😊.

✨ This month in our Capturing Kids’ Hearts program, we’re focusing on RESPECT 💛 — which comes in many forms:
🌱 respect for life
🏡 for property
👨👩👧👦 for parents
👵👴 for elders
🌍 for nature
🤝 and for the beliefs and rights of others
Respect includes being courteous and polite 😊, as well as respecting yourself by avoiding self-criticism 💭➡️💙.
We can model respect for our children through how we speak to and treat them 🗣️❤️. Respect is not only an important character trait 🌟, but it can also be a source of real joy 😄! Respect reflects appreciation 🙏, helping us become more aware of others’ needs and feelings 💞.

Another AWESOME Me Week at school! 🌟
Our students learned important skills to help them navigate their interactions with one another 🤝💬. They also enjoyed reading "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and creating crafts that helped introduce letters and name recognition 🌴🔤. Learning, growing, and having fun all in one week! 💛📚
